May 15 & 16 last dates for the first rounds

Its just about days away when registration for the first two rounds of Viking Cup 2025 officially closing, and some interesting names just registered.

When only three weeks to go until first round of Viking Cup take place the registration of riders for this years Viking Cup keeps going.

– There are always late registrations says the Swedish organizer an adds and of course we try to register as long as possible even after last date but we are really really grateful for early registration due to all adminstration and such.

Both Round 1 and Round 2 has some really interesting riders and just thoose last couple of days there are two familiar names from last years Cup added to the starting lists.

Simon Bergman

Going from Vintage Modern Classic to Thunderbike Simon Bergman from Stockholm turns up on a very very very upgraded Yamaha XS650. Simon has been racing the cup for the last three years but until now on an almost stock framed bike. But this winter the transformation of the bike turned out to be a very racy bike with a much more flat track suited layout with the right angles and a well needed upgrade of the suspension. It will be much fun to watch this rider who went from road racing to gravel racing and who made some huge development during thoose past three years. First season he was way to hard on the throttle and had to eat lots of dust, but he very quickly found out the physical limits and manage to work his way up to the very top in a very short time. Now he is up for new challenges battling among other new born Thunderbikers the unbeaten Conny Ivarsson. Conny raced the Hooligan class for some years and only lost one race against Jonathan Falkman. After that he bought some new bikes and have been racing in Thunderbike for the last three years.

Conny Ivarsson

In Scandinavia the competion has been small but except for three lost heatraces he has won the Thunderbike cup titles in Scandinavia including Finland, Sweden as well as Germany where the competion is on a totally different level with lots of really fast riders, for the last three years. Ivarsson just turned 60 so will he keep up the speed and defense his titles against the much younger competition? We might belive he will cause this former speedway pro has both speed needed and of course countless experiences on gravel and of turning left on a an oval track.

And about experienced riders…
It has been almost 100 procent returns of last years Pro riders in Viking Cup. We still miss the Norweigans but there is still time. But there where also a rider from Finland we were missing, until thoose very last few days. This very experienced rider from Seinäjoki has multiple titles and not less than nine Ice Road Racing Champion titles and are also the Reserve Champion of last years Viking Cup in the Pro Open class. With seasons in FIM World Championship in Flat track some years ago he is bringing the highest level to the cup and he will for sure be the one challenging Ossi Rantala of the top spot this year. Mikko Koskinen #69 will for sure speed up the race and put some interesting pressure on his fellow competitors.

Both Simon Bergman Sweden and Mikko Koskinen Finland bringing some exciting speed to the races and its going to be fun watching them both at first in Varkaus on June 7.
