No don’t worry the young Norweigan talent Malene Solvang isn’t leaving Norway, but this particular weekend she is participating for the second time in the 3rd round of Dutch Flat Track Cup in Roden at the 600 meters long track with the suitable address Amerika 19.

Malene Solvang made her first apperance in flat track just a couple of years ago due to her heavy flat track addicted father Gunnar “Flathead is the future” Solvang. And last year after attending some flat track schools with Jeffrey Carver, Lasse Kurvinen and at last Sammy Halbert, it all fell into place and she found the speed, fast enough to take the step up in the pro class this season.

As the only woman she made her first start in Pro in Örebro a couple of weeks ago and as only non Finnish rider her second and third at the very home tracks of the Finns. First in Varkaus and second in Kauhajoki Finland, during round 1 and 2 of Viking Cup. Battling the fast Finns the lack of experience of the high speed made her go safe, especially at the fast track in Kauhajoki where the straights offered up to 150-160 km/h, but she was there, in the crowd, racing against some of the fastest riders in Europe the very fast Finns.
Racing in Neatherlands was a decision taken early this spring and to get experience the Dutch flat track cup offers plenty of good riders from all around Europe. The Brittish league DTRA UK might offer the best flat track series in Europe with a level higher than any other amateur series in Europe, but since Neatherlands are close to both Germany, France and UK it collects riders from all countrys which makes it the perfect serie to attend for a young rider to develop skills and getting to race some of the very best riders.
This weekend offers a second long track for Malene but Roden is slightly different from Kauhajoki which has a perfect mixture of material. Roden seems to get a bit bumpy in the end of the corners, most likely due to the cushion-like material. But we are confident she will handle it very well and it will be another great experience for Malene and we are so many Scandinavians crossing our fingers for her and other young riders like Saku Purtilo who are just going for it and making it so good in the tough competion outside our Nordic Region.
Both Saku Purtilo and Malene Solvang are attending the last round of Viking Cup in Sweden in between World Championship for Saku and the Dutch Flat Track serie for Malene.
– We are so happy to have them both and watch them race in the same class with riders like Ossi Rantala, Mikko Koskinen and many more, confirmes the organiser of the finale and last round of Viking Cup 2025.
Stay tuned for report from Malene in Neatherland and the first round of the Swedish Flat track Cup this weekend.
