A “Genuine” Hooligan joining Viking Cup with some extra cc
Well known as an experienced Harley parts dealer Lasse Carlsson at Genuine Bike Parts in Sweden entered a gravel track for the first time six years ago. Trotteln i Taket a swedish flat track event, more than a race, has been the start for many riders coming from the outside of any motorsport lacking any race experience what so ever. The biker environment seems to like the idea of easy going easy rolling and the event are still going strong even though many of the participants, like Lasse, pretty fast got hooked and moved on to a little bit more serious racing.

Lasse Carlsson racing for Vikingarna Örebro in Sweden just signed up to all three rounds of Viking Cup. He has been part of the cup since it started but this winter Lasse took that extra step giving himself, at least in written, some better basis at the track and especially on a bit longer ones.
Faithfull to the Holligan class the Sportster Lasse rode to the first race on, with tent and saddle bags and then raced the whole weekend, is still his race bike, but throughout thoose last few years the bike transformed from street bike to an evil Hooligan flat track mashine. Smaller gastank, fibre glass seat pan, developed suspension, and lots of weight loss due to unneccassary parts like front break system, lights and so on.
But when Lasse opened up his what he than belived 1200 cc engine he discovered that his 1200 cc was nothing but a 883cc. He might have suspected it though he was lacking a bit of power riding on a horse track last year.
Lasse who really enjoyed the long track decided to go all in and put some neccassary cc:s as well as horses to be better prepared for up coming half miles and eventually even other races at horse tracks.
The new formula of the engine contains 1200cc, 10;1 pistons, ported heads, larger valves and Andrews N4 cams. But when he was working the bike he also lowered the front fork, raised the rear shocks, got a slimmer front hub and new sprockets to loose another apx 8 kg of the total weight. A stock Sportster is about 250 kg dry and it’s a monster to handle on a track. Any one only raced mx -bikes should take the chance trying it out. The perspective gives respect to the iron riders who dares to bring this led sleds up to full spin in the corners even more hit the rear breaks going in to the same.
For the same reason most of the Hooligans trying to loose as much weight they can of their heavy duty rides and if Lasse counted correctly his bluish Sportster now touch the 200 kg limit. Well done!
#39 Lasse ended up on third place in last years Viking cup in spite that he only made it to two of the rounds. 2024 Chamopion was another Swede #37 Jacob Mattsson on a Ducati 800 Scrambler and reserve Champion Norweigan #75 Karl-Espen Mølmen on a Sportster 1200 cc. We are really looking forward to new fights between theese riders and of course the rest of the toughest flat track riders there is, the Hooligans.
